With all of the incredible restaurants that opened in the area this Summer we thought it was about time we rounded some up to share with you all.

Gai ‘n Rice

You may know this dish as Khao Man Gai, Hainan Chicken, or Com Ga. If you’ve never had it, it’s a clean and comforting meal. At Gai each dish includes poached chicken, fragrant chicken rice, and rich chicken soup along with a selection of sauces highlighting unique flavors of Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.  

Kodaiko

Kodaiko is an ingredients-driven Ramen joint with small plates, craft beer, wine and hand-selected sake in a low-key basement space. Featuring non-pretentious service, good beats, and hot bowls. If you’re a fan of Kru’s ramen then Kodaiko is the place for you.

If you miss Lou’s Sushi and Midtown doesn’t quite make the cut you’ll be thrilled to hear about this new spot. Southpaw Sushi is the brainchild of the incomparable Lou Valente. At Southpaw Sushi Lou has free rein. (Well, as free rein as the best local ingredients Sacramento has to offer.) They’ll be serving “unique, exotic, beautiful, sometimes weird but always exquisite rolls, nigiri and more.”

Solomon’s Delicatessen

What started as an idea to bring a classic delicatessen experience to the Sacramento region by organizers of the Jewish Food Faire developed into Solomon’s Delicatessen to honor Tower Records and founder Russ Solomon. Solomon’s, like Tower Records, is a community gathering place where music and culture is celebrated and everyone is welcome.

KoJa Kitchen

KoJa (aka Korean-Japanese) is a special gourmet sandwich infused with a unique combination of Korean & Japanese flavors. To step it up a notch, KoJa Kitchen substitutes the traditional wheat buns with freshly made crispy garlic rice buns. KoJa takes the best of both cuisines and reinvents them in a way that is fun and delicious to eat.

Aji Dori

Takata-ya has teamed up with the locally owned Aji Japanese Bistro to create Aji Dori. Here they focus on Asian street food (“aji” translates to “taste” and “dori” translates to “street”), like kalbi beef tacos, kakuni (braised pork belly) sliders and panko asparagus, and comfort foods including ramen bowls with char siu and stir-fried yakisoba noodles. 

Curry Up Now

Not your average Indian. Think tikka masala burritos, deconstructed samosas, and sexy fries. Curry Up Now takes traditional Indian flavors and presents them in a friendly, recognizable way. With an obsession for amazing tasting food, this restaurant is just as passionate about making sure their guests have an incredible experience the moment they walk through the doors or step in line at their food trucks.

Fixins Soul Kitchen

Fixins Soul Kitchen is a new soul food restaurant backed by former Sacramento mayor Kevin Johnson. The restaurant’s menu offerings ties together family recipes from Oak Park residents alongside original dishes from executive head chef Melvin “Boots” Johnson. Fixins will also offer a vegan menu for those so inclined.

Falafel Corner | Downtown

Falafel Corner has long been a hit in the Sacramento area. Their newest location just opened for those lucky enough to live or work in downtown. If you haven’t been, it’s a great spot for a quick burger but more importantly, delicious Mediterranian food.
