Shoutout to Some Black-Owned Restaurants to Support in Sacramento
The Sacramento food scene would not be where it is today without the contributions made by these businesses! Lists of black-owned restaurants have been popping up on social media as our community looks to support our fellow community members during this time. The Sacramento Bee put out a comprehensive list of over 40 black-owned restaurants and coffee shops in the greater Sacramento area. I wanted to showcase a few of these businesses and give them the recognition they deserve!
Fixins Soul Kitchen
Nestled in Oak Park, Fixins has become a staple in providing Sacramento with some of the best soul food around! Their passion and commitment to community outreach and support does not go unnoticed. They have impacted Sacramento in positive ways by striving to be a true zero waste facility as well as partnering with homeless assistance programs in an effort to minimize waste created and increase community benefit.

Pangaea Bier Cafe
Located directly across from Gunther’s Ice Cream, Pangaea is the perfect place to grab dinner before the dessert. The variety of indoor and outdoor seating in this cozy building provides a great place to catch up with friends while enjoying some AMAZING food and tasty drinks! The chicken sandwich is one of my favorites, but to be honest you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu!

With some of the tastiest food around, South definitely needs to be on your list! The quality of food is so good and you can tell that it is made with love and care. They just brought their ribs back to the menu recently and they are so amazing! Not only do they serve amazing food, but you can hire them to cater events and weddings as well as set up private dining events!

Urban Roots Brewery & Smokehouse
Urban Roots Brewery cannot be missed! It’s beautiful and unique mural catches the eye of all who pass by. Their large patio area with shade covers and misters makes a great place to hang out even during hot days, but they also have a large dining area and event space as well! Last time I was there I got a FrozĂ© slushie (frozen RosĂ©) and it popped off! It was so yummy!
