Thai Iced Cocoa & Childhood Memories

Thai Iced Cocoa & Childhood Memories

I don’t know about you, but I’m a sucker for chocolate milk. Especially on hot days! I know I’m a grown-ass adult, but that doesn’t make it any less delicious. Well, this is like the adult version of chocolate milk (add some alcohol and we’re talking serious adult).

Anyway, I grew up with a Thai step-mom which means not only delicious Thai food (drool), but the occasional chocolatey iced cocoa treat. When we were having a rough day? Thai iced cocoa. Want to escape the heat? Thai iced cocoa. Just craving something sweet? Thai iced cocoa.

When I was living in Thailand a few years ago, I would order this, or the mocha version, all the time. It was available at most coffee shops or you could find it at street stalls. There, it would come in plastic bags you could stab with straws. I swear, it tasted best that way! These days, I don’t have access to Thai coffee shops, and the restaurants here never have it on the menu. Thankfully, I have the authentic recipe to make it at home. Now you do too!

It’s sweet like chocolate milk, but with a deeper flavor. It’s smooth and creamy. And delicious as is or you can change it up by adding different flavors like almond or orange, or topped with some whipped cream. For the adult version, try some Bailey’s and a little bit of creme de menthe!
