Best Neighborhoods To Trick-or-Treat In Sacramento

As little witches and wizards gear up to trick-or-treat all over Sacramento, we wondered to ourselves, where are the best spots to get a boatload, or perhaps a pillowcase, full of candy? We’ve rounded up the best neighborhoods in Sacramento to do some serious door knocking.

BEST NEIGHBORHOODS TO TRICK-OR-TREAT IN SACRAMENTO

#1 EAST SAC + FAB 40S If big homes mean big candy, then this neighborhood promises delight. Rumor has it that quite a few homes give away large candy bars, but beware they like to save them for the local kids, so go early. These streets provide a spectacular view of homes to keep the parents entertained as well. Grab a coffee before you hit the streets at Chocolate Fish. And if you haven’t binged on travel-sized snickers, then head on over to OneSpeed for a slice at OneSpeed.

#2 CURTIS PARK
Streets lined with charming homes and large trees make a beautiful backdrop for trick-or-treating. This family-oriented neighborhood is a great place to take the little vampire and ghoul in your life. Enjoy the view across the park and if your trick-or-treaters (or let’s get real, you) get hungry while candy hunting, pop over for a scoop at Gunther’s Quality Ice Cream at 2801 Franklin Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95818.

#3 LAND PARK
Land Park is truly a family-friendly area, as can be attested to by the popular and well-rated schools. Lots of lights will be on during Halloween night and answering doors to fill those pillowcases. When diabetes threatens to set in, stop into Masullo for mouth-watering pizza at 2711 Riverside Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95818.

#4 ELMHURST
This historic neighborhood is covered in large elms and the charming homes draped in Halloween decorations. The houses have a cozy feel and there are sure to be lots of young families out and about. Though there aren’t many options for food in the area, it’s a quick drive to the Revolution Winery & Kitchen for a tasty (though pricey) burger and delicious deviled eggs, or if you need some warming up, grab a steaming bowl of ramen at Ryujin.

Ryujin Ramen House located at 1831 S St, Sacramento, CA 95811.
Revolution Wines located at 2831 S St, Sacramento, CA 95816.

#5 HOLLYWOOD PARK
Dubbed by Redfin to be the nation’s eighth “Hottest Neighborhood”, it’s no wonder it makes a great candy-scouting spot. Home to a costume parade and 17 candy stations, Hollywood Park knows how to celebrate. Top off the night with a bite at one of the many little eateries lining Freeport Blvd.

#6 MIDTOWN
The Marshall school area of Midtown has long been considered one of the most walkable neighborhoods of Sacramento. The grid is an eclectic mix of small businesses and interesting architecture. With plenty of places to stop along the path of trick-or-treating, your kids won’t be the only ones having fun. Stop by Temple Coffee on 2200 K St, Sacramento, CA 95816 for a night-capp (a cappuccino that is, yes I know, terrible pun) and even find yourself a vegan or gluten-free treat if you feel so inclined.
