The Ultimate Cookie Exchange

The Ultimate Cookie Exchange

‘Tis the season for hot cocoas, stories by the fire, last-minute Christmas shopping, and best of all… cookies. I don’t know about you but around here we have a ton of holiday cookie exchanges. Who doesn’t love that – I mean sharing is caring, right? And on that note, I wanted to share with you my top 5 cookies for the holiday.

Lemon Meltaways

These melt-in-your-mouth confections strike just the right balance between sweet and tart. I think it adds a nice brightness to the box full of different types of rich cookies. If you’re a fan of Girl Scout’s Savannah Smiles cookies, give this one a try.

Pro tip: We like our lemon cookies very lemony. Add more lemon juice & zest for stronger flavor, and mix some citric acid to the powdered sugar to make it more tart!

Brown Butter Shortbread Cookie

Doesn’t brown butter just make everything taste better? I think so too, especially in shortbread. This simple cookie just hits the spot.

Pro tip: These are a little crumbly, but oh so delicious! Get creative with added flavors like lavender or earl grey.

New Fashioned Snickerdoodle

While I’m actually not the world’s biggest snickerdoodle fan, Stella’s recipe had me converted. Not overly sweet and has great texture. Hands-down best snickerdoodle.

Pro tip: For something different, add a cup of toffee pieces!

The Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookies

Like many of his other recipes, Kenji has simply nailed the chocolate chip cookie. It is quite honestly the best chocolate chip cookie ever to have existed. 100% worth making, and the story behind it is worth a read too.

Pro tip: Keep an eye on the brown butter, it can burn quickly! And make these guys ahead, they need to rest for a deeper flavor.

Brownie Crinkle Cookie

The ultimate cookie for the brownie lover in your life. So rich with flavor and a great crinkly, chewy bite. Somebody pass me the milk…

Pro tip: Prep the baking sheets early! You want to get these in the oven as soon as they’re done mixing. You can only make one batch at a time as the texture changes quickly.

Happy Holidays!
