Alternatives to Going to the Gym While Social Distancing
There is a lot going on right now in the midst of COVID-19 and many businesses are closing, operating in very limited capacity and having employees work from home. We are also all being encouraged to distance ourselves socially or remain at home. Being outside and or being active is a great way to social distance yourself, be healthy and connect with yourself and nature. This post is meant to provide some positivity, empowerment and to help fight being stir crazy during this time.
Cycling
Cycling was deemed one of the essential activities that should still continue while we are social distancing. Getting out and riding with your family can help bring you closer together as well as allow you to enjoy the outside. If you do not have your own bike Folsom Bike, a local Folsom bike shop, is still currently open and they offer a wide variety of rental bikes that can easily be set up for you and your family. Situated directly across from the American River Bike Trail in Folsom, this would be a great point to start and finish a ride!
Rentals and rental information for Folsom Bike can be found here.
Walk Around the Neighborhood/Running
Another great way to be outside and active can be right outside your door! Just getting your blood pumping by taking a brisk walk or run around the neighborhood can do some good and help fight the cabin fever of being locked in the house. Taking the dogs for a walk or letting the kids bike and scooter around the neighborhood can help break that social isolation and allow you to be outside. Just make sure to keep a safe six feet distance from other people you may encounter while in the neighborhood, just to practice safety.
Hiking
What better way to social distance yourself than taking a hike! Heading over to Skunk Hollow off of Salmon Falls or Horsetail Falls and the Lake Clementine Trail in Auburn would be great hikes to social distance yourself and connect with nature. Hiking around Lake Berryessa would be another great place to escape. Below are some lists of hikes around us!

At Home Workouts
Just because the gyms are closed does not mean you have to stop working out or lose your gainz! There are quite a few Instagrammers and YouTubers that have some pretty great alternative home workouts and body weight exercises to keep fit while still social distancing.
