Eyes on the Horizon: What’s New and Upcoming in Sacramento

With the recent lifting of certain restrictions surrounding Sacramento’s pandemic response, I know many of us have our eyes on activities we are now allowed to partake in. Three of which I’m very excited about: dining in at restaurants, retail and shops opening up, and the reopening of art galleries and museums. Having said all that, I will still be wearing a mask and taking other precautions and I recommend you do too. Now on to the new and exciting things happening in Sac.

Smic’s Sip & Quip

1200 K Street Suite 8, Sacramento, CA 95814

According to the business’s Facebook page, “Smic’s is the premier downtown destination for farm to fork dishes, delectable wines and local craft beers. Our mission is simple: to create a social gathering place for our guests to relax and have some fun.”

Smic’s Bar will be opening at 1200 K St., Suite 8., so keep an eye on their IG for updates.

MADAR | Afghani-Fusion Street Food

2654 Marconi Ave #112, Sacramento, CA 95821

According to the business’s Website, Madar is “Afghani street food with a modern flair, served with love. The fondest memory from my childhood was watching my Madar (Mother) cook uzbeki and afghani food. Oftentimes, I would help her with our cultural dishes instead of playing outside. I couldn’t wait for the beautiful aromas of the spices to combine and create a delicious comforting bouquet of scents that would permeate every corner of our home. My desire is to offer the “like mom used to make” experience to everyone that walks through our doors with the same love and attention to detail that my mother gave.”

Customers can’t get enough of their Krispy Chicken Sandwich, Bolani, and Biryani Dome, a vegetarian, potato rice bowl baked in tandoor with special house dome crust.

Morgan’s Mill Sacramento

1026 K St, Sacramento, CA 95814

Morgan’s Mill flagship location in Woodland, CA is a thriving coffee shop and destination. Downtown Sacramento will soon be added to their list of locations as a “premier place to meet, work and play… serving coffee, beer, wine and waffles!”

Their Woodland location is open, keep an eye on the Sac location’s opening through their Instagram account @morgansmill_sac.

Strapping Store

1731 L St, Sacramento, CA 95811

Strapping’s original location in North Oak Park just reopened today and their new Midtown location at 18th and L St. is having their soft opening this Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm. I’m super siked about this new location as I can hit two of my favorite gifting shops right next to each other – Ginger Elizabeth Chocolates & Strapping. Perfection!

Happy Outings my friends! Stay safe and happy.
